A quick and healthy Blood-nourishing snack

Oats and peanuts are Blood-nourishing. Cranberries benefit the Liver and Chia seeds benefit the Kidneys, both of which are involved in the production or storage of Blood.

1 cup rolled oats
½ cup peanut butter (or sunflower seed butter)
3 tbsp honey
2 tbsp desiccated coconut
2 tbsp dried cranberries
1 tbsp chia seeds
½ tsp vanilla extract

Toast the oats for a few minutes until just starting to brown.

Tip into a bowl and mix with the other ingredients. If you like, swap the peanut butter for homemade sunflower seed butter – this is slightly less Blood-nourishing and a bit more work to make but generally healthier and (depending on the source) suitable for those with nut allergies.

Take a small handful and squeeze together to form a ball. Place on a sheet of baking parchment and repeat. Once you’ve used all of the mix, put into the fridge for about 10 minutes to firm up.
