Acupuncture Research

Acupuncture (and Chinese medicine in general) has been continually used, developed and refined through the lifelong experience of practitioners in China (and throughout East Asia) for over 2000 years.

Now, it is being subjected to the scrutiny of Western experimental research. Sometimes the results are not conclusive (partly due to the practical difficulties of researching this kind of therapy), but there is a growing evidence base supporting the effectiveness of acupuncture for treating a wide range of conditions.

Evidence Based Acupuncture

Evidence Based Acupuncture summarise the latest research on acupuncture, in terms of effectiveness for specific conditions, but also the biological mechanisms by which it works.

BAcC Fact Sheets

The British Acupuncture Council has produced a series of fact sheets evaluating the research evidence for a wide range of conditions.
